Also, I think there’s a lesser-talked about but equally depressing outcome for men that I privately refer to as the Knight of Infinite Resignation (stolen from Kierkegaard.)

These are guys that are the polar opposite of Peter Pans. Their lives are driven by commitment and routine but it is hollow to them. They might use some vice to cope with their day-to-day existence, trudging along, but they don’t truly want what they have. They do what’s expected of them and that’s it.

This is what the Puer Aeternus fears becoming.

But I think in actually, the antidote to both is the same. You need enough imagination and interiority to create potential solutions and goals for yourself, but also enough grounding and responsibility to take action and realize them.
